How to Depot MAC Eyeshadows

Just the other day I sat and just de-potted most of my neutral eyeshadows into a palette. I watched a few videos on how to do it but they all just made it seem way to complicated. I figured it out on my own and it's super simple.

What you need
Straightener
Scissors
MAC eyeshadow palette
Sharp tools: I used some nail tools
Magnet sheets

Step 1

You need to separate the eyeshadow from the packaging so you can do that how ever you like I just took a sharp thing from a nail kit and took it out.

Step 2

Take eyeshadow and put it on your straightner. I would recommend using an old straightener that you don't use that often because the plastic melted a bit on mine.

Wait until the plastic is melted from the metal of the eyeshadow you will see it seperating. While your waiting you can cut a piece of magnet.

Step 3

Take the eyeshadow off and place the magnet on. It doesn't matter if there's still glue on it just be careful not to burn yourself. While your doing that you can place the other half of your eyeshadow on the straightener this doesn't take as long as the eyeshadow.

Step 4

Take the eyeshadow off and place the label on top of the magnet and trim the edges so it looks nice and smooth.

And there you go your DONE!! It's super simple and is pretty fast if you only have a few.

I would reccomend to just buy the refills once your have a palette because its way easier and they stay in the palette better. And not to mention its a few dollars cheaper.

Have you de-potted your MAC eyeshadows?

Messy Twist Side Braid

HeyKayli put up a video the other day with a tutorial on a twist braid and I think it is the cutest and easiest hairstyle that looks super cute ever! So here is my take on it. I followed it almost to a T until the end I did a rope braid so it didn't untwist as much and so it would stay all day.

Here's the video so you can follow along!

New Years: Classic Red Lip

Last but not least, a classic red lip. This is just perfect for new years and just the holiday season.

Makeup!

Colour 1: MAC Creamy Bisque
Colour 2: MAC Wedge
Lipstick: Clinique Cider Berry
Lip Liner: Clinique Deep Red

So first you want to start with a nice eye shadow base, I used NARS smudgeproof eye primer with MAC painterly paint pot on top.

Next used a flat brush and from lash line to crease I used MAC creamy bisque. Then placed MAC wedge in the crease for a little bit of definition. You don't want your eye makeup to be too crazy because we're going to be having a red lip.

Next just black eye liner top and bottom waterline. Some mascara and that's it for the eyes.

Now to the face, I used Clinique Aglow Blush, Benefit Hoola Bronzer, MAC skin finish in Lightscape for my highlight.

Now for LIPS I used Clinique deep red lip liner just because I feel with a red lip you need some definition and a super precise line. Then on top of the lip liner I put my lipstick which is my all time favourite red lipstick Clinique cider berry.

Now Hair!

I did a sock bun, just because I feel that it just looks super cute with the makeup and the outfit. And because I'm obsessed with sock buns.

Outfit!

So this is not the classic little black dress and red lip look. I decided to wear this super cute lace dress from Maurices. I feel this is just a super girl look and I love it!

New Years: Golden Shimmer

Number two is a super pretty gold eye with a sparkly dress. I actually wore this look to a Gala event that I was working and I got so many complements.

First Makeup!

Colour 1: MAC Wedge
Colour 2: MAC Bronze
Colour 3: MAC Embark
Colour 4: LUSH Dymanic eyeliner
Colour 5: GOSH Gold Glitter

So first you start with a nice eye shadow base, I used NARS smudgeproof eye primer with MAC painterly paint pot on top. Then next you just want a super natural crease shade, this is going to help with the blending process, I used MAC wedge eye shadow.

Then I used MAC bronze right on top of wedge and just started to blend it into the crease and on the outer part of my eye.

Next I used MAC embark with a dome brush and just put that on the outer V of my eye and blended that really well so it added depth. And blended into the bronze colour.

I did line my bottom lash line with bronze just very close to the lashline.

Now comes the fun part! Glitter! I started with LUSH Dynamic eyeliner and I just put it from lash line to crease on my whole lid. Then I used some MAC fix+ just to make sure there is no fall out and stuck that into the glitter, then I patted the glitter onto my eye lid (right on top of the eye liner)

Once you have all of that done you can just add black liner top and bottom water line and add some mascara.

For face I used MAC warmsoul blush, Benefit Bronzer, Mac skinfinish in Lightscape for my highlight and for lips MAC high tea lipstick.

Now Hair!!

I kept my hair straight because I think it looks really good and that's how I had my hair when I did this for the gala. But you can do whatever you want.

Outfit!

I decided that I needed more sparkle and I just love this dress. I'm wearing a black sequin dress from dynamite with a gold belt which just adds to the makeup. Then for shoes I'm wearing black pumps.

New Years: Silver Eyes

I have put together a few looks for New Years. This is the first of them, it's a silvery eye with just a simple black dress.

First with the makeup!

Colour 1: MAC Wedge
Colour 2: MAC Trax
Colour 3: MAC Sorcery
Colour 4: MAC Carbon
Colour 5: Maybelline Silver Strike

So first you start with a nice eye shadow base, I used NARS smudgeproof eye primer with MAC painterly paint pot on top. Then next you want just a super natural crease shade, this is going to help with the blending process, I used MAC wedge eye shadow.

Then I used MAC trax right on top of wedge and just start to make it not look brown.

Next I used MAC sorcery this just going to help with depth so I just put that on the outer half of my lid and just started to blend it up into the crease. You can put this colour ask far as you want into the crease but be careful because it's purple so it may start to look like you have a black eye.

Then I took a little bit of MAC carbon eyeshadow with a dome brush and just put that on the outer V of my eye then again blended that into the dark purple.

I did line my bottom lash line with sorcery just very close to the lashline.

Now comes the fun part! Glitter!! I started with Maybelline colour tattoo in Silver Strike to have a nice base for the glitter. I just put that from lash line to crease. Now having the colour tattoo looks good just by it self but you can add sparkle onto of that. I used some MAC fix+ just onto a flat brush and then dipped that into the pigment to not have as much fall out.

Once you have all of that done you can just add black liner top and bottom water line add some mascara. Add for some extra awesomeness you can add LASH! I have used MAC #3 lashes in the past with this look. Or you can use whatever lashes you want.

For face I used Clinique Iced Lotus Blush, Benefit Hoola Bronzer, MAC skinfinish in Lightscapade for my highlight and for lips MAC high tea lipstick.

Now to the Hair!!

I just kept mine straight because I don't like the way my hair looks when it's curled but you could do whatever you want.

Outfit!

I decided that just a classic black dress would look amazing because you have some much going on for your make-up. The dress I'm wearing just from Maurices and it's a black body-con with some sequins on the shoulders. Then for shoes I'm wearing black pumps.

DIY Minion Costume

What you will need
Yellow Shirt: I had mine from a previous costume and its just a cotton shirt that I got from Micheal's
Denim/ Blue Overalls: These were very hard to find. I ended up finding them at Winner's for 5 BUCKS!!! So good. They can be blue or denim no one will know the difference.
Yellow tights/knee socks/leggings: Now I got my tights from party stuff for 6 dollars which I thought was a little pricy but I was getting desperate. I think that if you have something yellow on the bottom then it's a dead give away that your a minion.
Black shoes: I had black keds but any black shoe will do.

Everyone knew what I was without black gloves and glasses but if you want to go all out then you can definitely add them.

For makeup all I did was just did what I would do for my everyday makeup on my face and then for my eyes I put yellow eyeshadow on the lid and a royal blue in the crease. Then I just added black liner and mascara on the top. I kept my makeup super simple just because your costume is crazy to begin with.

Less than a week to Halloween!

Green with Envy (Review and Tutorial)

I bought one of the new eyeshadow quads from Clinique and I could not wait to try it out!

The eyeshadow is super nice and the pigmentation of the eyeshadows is just perfect. The product it self is not to powdery and I had little to no fall out when I was apply it.

I got so many complements of this eyeshadow look the past two days I wore it and I am definitely loving it too!

The eyeshadow that I used for this look is the quad called "On Safari". It's all green tone eyeshadows, this look would look good on everyone. But especially if you have blue eyes and even brown eyes.

Colour 1: I put this colour on the inner half of my lid.
Colour 2: I put this on the outer part of my lid and I started to work this into the crease as a transition colour.
Colour 3: I placed this in the outer half of the crease
Colour 4: I put this on the outer v and a bit in the crease to add dimension. And I also put this on the lower lash line as my eyeliner.

Would you wear green eyeshadow?

-Swell Mel :)

Disclaimer: I do work for Clinique but I have bought the product with my own money and all opinions are my own.

Make Blue eyes pop with MAC eyeshadow

So this look I love because whenever I wear it I always get complements on how blue my eyes are or how pretty my make-up looks. Another reason I love this look is because it's a really good mix of matte and shimmer eyeshadows.

Colour 1 (All the Glitters):Place on Lid (Lashline-Crease)
Colour 2 (Wedge): Place in Crease and just above crease
Colour 3 (Folie): Place in outer half of crease, outer v of lid, and lower lashline

Fall Make-up Look

I just bought this palette by Wet n' Wild it's called comfort zone and I love it! All the colours in it are really awesome for fall. And out of the colours that I have used the product is a perfect formulation.

Colour 1: I put this on the inner half of my lid (lashline to crease)
Colour 2: Put this outer half of lid (lashline to crease)
Colour 3: I used this colour as a transition colour so when I put my crease colour on it was nice and blended. So put this in my crease and just a little above.
Colour 4: I put this the outer half of my crease and on the outer v of my lid. Then I also placed this on my lower lashline
Colour 5: I used this to highlight underneath my brow and on the inner corner of my eye.

My Everyday Make-up

So this is my everyday look that I wear for school it's super fast and I don't even need to think about it in the morning. I also really like this look because I can always change up my lip colour depending on the season.

Colour 1 (Cream): Place from lash line to crease
Colour 2 (Taupe): Place in the crease

That's it! Like I said it's really fast and simple. Lately I have been wearing Peach Blossom Lipstick from MAC on my lips but I'm sure that once it starts to get a little cooler out I will be wearing a berry tone lipstick on my lips.

Going Out Make-up for Blue Eyes

So I thought of this super quick and easy make-up look the other day when I was going out with some of my friends and I was rushing to do my make-up. I know in the title it says for blue eyes but I'm using very neutral colours so it would look good on EVERYONE. But this look brings blue eyes out like crazy!

So for this look I used the Smashbox blue eye eye shadow palette. You can get this palette at Sephora and they also have palette for brown and hazel eyes as well which is super nice. But enough talking let's get with the tutorial.

Colour #1 put from your lash line to your crease
Colour #2 is a blending colour just to soften the colour that you just put on. So place this colour in the crease you don't have to make this colour super bold or dark
Colour #3 You can put this colour on the outer corner of your eye. So this can go on the very outside of your crease and a little bit on the lid. If you want a really dramatic look you could bring this colour more into the crease. This colour I also have as my liner on the bottom lash line. If you didn't want something so dark you could use colour #1 on your bottom lash line.
Colour #4 Just place this right underneath your brow bone and on the inner corner of your eye

Would you wear this look when your going out?
